Demo 1 - Shibori Talk & Demonstration

Jo from Jo’s Fiber Arts has been sewing since a child and quilting since her college days. An avid sense of curiosity leads her to study and learn new things. Recently her path has taken her to study the importance of Colour and Value. With this an avid interest in dyeing fabric,

Jo began dyeing with Procion MX dyes, Indigo and Eco Printing. Naturally that led to the art of Shibori resist dyeing. While the art of Shibori and the Japanese tradition comes to mind, many cultures around the world do their own style of resist printing.

Come to hear a bit about what Shibori is all about with walk through how some of the designs are made.

PAST 2016 - Tissue Box Art

Featured 2016 Artist Jen Houlden

After participating in a President’s Challenge to create a piece of art using another art medium as inspiration, Jen decided to turn her unusual choice of medium tissue boxes into a quilt series.  She has always considered how well tissue box designs lend themselves to geometrics, landscapes and other forms of art quilts.  Join Jen to see how tissue boxes have inspired her to create pieces of art.
